GAS VALVE / PILOT
Water Pressure Inside
Water Pressure City
This 11 year old State Select water heater had been losing the flame on the pilot for a few days. After walking the resident through the process of cleaning the flame arrestor the water heater ran for another night. In the morning the pilot had gone out again. The next day I went out and thoroughly cleaned the flame arrestor and relit the pilot. The pilot went out again within 10 minutes. The gas pressure was checked and it was determined that the gas valve had failed.
Instead of repairing an 11 year old water heater we replaced it with a Bradford White. The BW is the best option for this situation because there is a dryer only a few feet away from the water heater. The link from the dryer likely attributed to the problems with the State water heater. A thermal expansion tank was also installed as well as an isolation valve.
